I'm lucky. My son has a quirky memory where he can recall entire conversations word-for-word.

Years after I thought he did not hear me, he can rattle off my "wisdom" word for word. then he smiles and says, "See, I was listening!" !"

quite often what is said about religion falls on deaf ears as after all the people killed people still believe in it. No matter what is said it will not budge. If a person points out that many people have killed each other or more people on Seven Continents in the name of the God of one and that should be enough to reject at least this God no one listens they continue to say things like God is Good,God is Great we give thanks to The Lord for the food He has provided, Oh just and mercifull God. Then in spite of all the evidence this god should not be accepted they continue to accept the god.
