It depends on what the team are looking for. If they wanted a driver to be equal status with Lewis then I think Massa would be a good option. He's improved so much since he first came into F1, and if he hadn't had such terrible luck this season he would be right up there with Lewis now.
On the other hand, if they wanted a solid, reliable, number 2 driver, who would bring in good points for the constructors championship but not bother Lewis too much then I think that either Heidfeld or Webber would be great choices.

You of course understand no longer something approximately formula a million. Why would McLaren sabbotage Lewis's automobile? they choose him to win greater advantageous than something. Alonso has executed no longer something yet criticise the gang for the final 6 months and the former day suggested he deserved greater ideal from mclaren. hardly comments that could endear him to the gang. Logically ask your self do mclaren choose the driving force that doesnt understand the gang and doesnt refer to every person interior the gang to win(Alonso) or the driving force who they have nurtured from 14 years previous and have spent a fortune on. besides it grew to become into hamiltons call to alter the tyres. If he felt they had to get replaced they might have been. Im sorry yet this has to rank as between the main ridiculous questions ive ever examine. Do you fairly think of they desire to work out Alonso win the identify and then pass away the gang with the identify. McLaren do no longer desire to be numbers 22 + 23 next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days...

honestly i do hope alonso leaves, because i don't like him and i don't trust him. he's not a team player.
as for who should replace him, Anthony Davidson is showing promise with super aguri, but he's really a second driver, and perhaps not suited to a front line team anyway.
i'd like to see Nelson Piquet jr. get a shot, but i can't see flavio releasing him to mclaren. especially not after they took alonso off him.
Nico Rosberg has a lot of promise, and i think he could fit in well with mclaren. so off the top of my head, i'd say he could be the best choice.
(de la rosa at this stage is a bit old to restart his F1 career as anything other than a second driver, although he is still good. i think ron would be looking for a young guy with a long future. at least he should be.)
(EDIT: massa is a ferrari man through and through. don't see him leaving them anytime soon)

I've been impressed with Kubica all season. Consistent and bullish and was great at Spa this weekend (a highlight in a dull as ditch water race).
Saying that, I think Button should have one more throw at the dice, i'm sure his ego has been curtailed by all his seasons in the wilderness and the odd blistering drive when his care allows.
Two British drivers in a British team, how unprecedented!

I agree with Gatorade, Ralf would definitely be a good choice. Anthony Davidson would also benefit from being in a top team. I saw him test for Honda (BAR as they were) and he did a brilliant job. I like Anthony very much. I also think a good pairing would be with Jenson Button as both him and Lewis have the same smooth driving style.

Jenson Button - he deserves a chance with a good car and I think he could be a champion. Then we would have an English team with English drivers. No way should Ralf Schumacher carry on racing - he is useless and only does it for the money and he's riding on the back of his brother's name.

Well... Mika Hakkinen has never ruled out a return to Formula 1!!
Or maybe I would choose Robert Kubica because he has shown a lot of talent in the Grand Prix this year (forget the accident in Canada). I think with a faster and better car, Kubica could be better than we think!

I don't really see it happening. But if alonso were to defect to another team, the most logical option would be to choose someone with a lot of experience. Obviously hamilton would be the number 1 driver in the team. Since ralf schumacher does not really have a contract for next year, he would be my choice. He has had a lot of experience in the world of f1, and if he were willing to work with hamilton it would be a good solid team.

I'd go with a brit driver Coulthard or Button, can't trust these other euro's from packing a sad and stuffing up the morale of the team.
