It seems like a really good reason to try and have your baby come early, unfortunately, there is no fool-proof way to make labor happen any sooner than your body and your baby are ready. If there were a way to make it happen, no mom would want to wait it out until 40 weeks! I am mom to 4 children. All 4 of them were born past their due dates by 9 days, 11 days, 5 days, and 7 days. I tried numerous things to get labor going, such as having sex, walking a lot, eating spicy food, nipple stimulation, driving down bumpy back roads, washing floors on my hands and knees, but none of them worked for me. I avoided anything of questionable nature such as taking castor oil since the recommendation was strongly against it. If you are ready to go into labor anyway, some doctors or midwives may use it to speed things along, but the side effects can be diarrhea, cramping, vomiting, dehydration. My grandfather was very sick with cancer when I was pregnant with my youngest. He tried hard to fight, he dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but the disease was just too much. He ended up passing away 3 weeks to the day before she was born. She is now 10 years old and while they never knew each other here on Earth, she is so like him in her mannerisms and it is uncanny her passion for all things outdoors: farming, fishing, hunting, and nature - it's just like he taught her everything he knew for the 3 weeks they might have known each other in heaven. Hopefully your grandfather was diagnosed early and will have successful treatment so he can have many years with his great-granddaughter. If she doesn't decide to make her appearance before he has to go to the hospital, take plenty of pictures and video tape footage. Make a special "first weeks of life" scrapbook for him. It won't be as special as being there, but it'll make him feel a part of her life.

I know you said don't want to hear this - but it's just a fact that you cannot get your body to go into labor until it is ready. All the methods people tell you to use to start labor only work if your body is ready. No one can tell you for certain that they were able to make it happen before they were ready, because they don't know if their bodies were ready or not. I understand why you would want to have the baby early, but it's better not to get your hopes up.

You can try the methods listed here, please consider the safety of them before trying this is just a compilation from a midwifery newgroups.
However they likely will not work if the baby isn't ready:
