Okay first of all there is a ton of stuff to do in San Fran. Be sure to check out China Town some of the best shopping around. They of course also have some great food here. Check out Fisherman’s Wharf, and be sure to see the Sea Lions on the pier. You can take a boat cruise of the bay they have all kinds in all price ranges. Go to Golden Gate park, the Aquarium here is wonderful and the views are amazing up on the cliffs. Ride a cable car, the main station is right by Fisherman’s wharf, take a loop around the city, you get to see tons of stuff. The best thing to do in San Fran is to find a centrally located hotel and park the car, try to walk everywhere that you can or take a cab. Parking can be very hard to find here, and it gets expensive real quick! Take a walk on the Golden Gate Bridge, yep they do get to let you walk across it. Check out Treasure Island, this little place is now home to a very small navel station but it once was used for the World’s Fair. The museum here is wonderful, I really learned a lot and the views from there are amazing! Since you are going in March I would bring a jacket or something like it the wind can pick up and at night it can be chilly! Go see Alcatraz, the tour is wonderful and the boat ride getting there can also be a lot of fun. If you like art go to the museum of Modern Art, wonderful! Check out Nobb Hill, go see Lombarde Street, only in San Fran will you find a street like this. Check out the visitor’s website for more, you can also request a free travel packet and purchase discount tickets to many of the attractions:

Be sure to stop in Santa Cruz and check out the boardwalk, doesn’t matter what age you are this is a must stop. Not only is it one of the most famous boardwalks in the US but, they also have some really good rides! The beach here can get a little crowded but, the surfers are great to watch.

Monterey Bay, plan on spending at least a day here! This whole area is just beautiful. Be sure to go to the Aquarium on of the best in the country, you get to feed a sting ray and pet a shark how cool is that! If you like the outdoors try kayaking here. There are several places that rent sea kayaks and it is not hard to do. Going out into the bay is cool you can see whales, sea otters, and sea lions. You are suppose to stay away from them but, um they like to come up to you and see what is going on. This was one of the best things that I did on our PCH trip! There are also plenty of wonderful places to eat. The famous Pebble Beach is near and also the 17-mile drive.

San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach are awesome beach towns. Get ready for some unique shopping, and great beach time! Be sure to check out the Missions in San Luis there are two Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa and Mission San Miguel Arcangel. They really are a unique part to CA’s history. There are TONS of art galleries in San Luis, walk down any street you will find them, you also can find some really unique jewelry here. Here is the visitor’s website for more details:

There are also several wineries in the area if you all like to do things like that. Most of them have free tasting and great views of the countryside. Pismo Beach is the classic CA beach town. They have tons of great restaurants here. Be sure to take time and walk out on the pier, great views of the ocean from there!

I would also recommend checking out Hearst Castle in San Simone. This place is truly amazing and well worth your time. I was 5 the first time I went there, and one of my first grow up trips was back to it. The memories from when I was a kid were just amazing and well when I went back it did not let me down I was even more mesmerized! The place is so large and they have several tours that are available. I recommend doing the “General” one and then at least taking one more! The only way to see the whole place is by taking ALL of the tours and even then, it is so huge that you do not get to see everything. Good for all ages, and will make a lasting memory!!!! You can order tickets online or wait till you get there. I would suggest checking out their website and finding the tours you want to take.

If you can I would suggest instead of taking 101 take the PCH and take highway 1. Drive the old two lane highway, the views are just amazing and the drive is well worth your time. You get to go through small beach towns, and you get to see the wonderful nature that the coastline has to offer.

I would check out this website for more information:

I hope this helps Happy Travels!!!!
