Besides the fact that they are both jews who survived the holocaust?

Is it because they see a little of that fascism in today's southern based sociallyl conservative Republican Party?

With the ultra-nationalism, xenophobia, racism, sexism, militancy, and fundamentalism that is common on the right?

Besides what you said, they also recognize that businesses run better on an even playing field, with government oversight to enforce lawfulness.
The last 6 years have been a major move toward unraveling consumer protections and environmental controls. Businesses are being placed in the position and expense of monitoring themselves. They then compete on price with businesses who ignore controls and inspections to save production money.
