I've lived in South Carolina since I was a toddler, and I don't have a problem with northerners until they start in with the ignorant redneck crap. The the Dixie comes out in me. :)) As for new york, I LOVE New York! I visited when I was seven, and I want to go back someday. But in the summer, cause I hate the cold. That's another thing, I don't understand the wearing shorts when it's forty degrees outside. And how you can go your whole life without drinking sweet tea. I think Northerners are fascinating....lol.

As a Southerner I find it odd that so many, mostly Northerners and media, accuse the South of being prejudiced. Yet, how are Southerners portrayed? As being close-minded , backward , rednecks. But if you were to say anything similar about another culture, group or such it would be so very wrong. But more on the point, we have no problem with those from the North until you move down here and complain - to which we say, Go home. I think people everywhere think NY first when considering the North but there are just as many small towns in Upstate, Conn. Maine, Wisc, etc as in the South. The biggest difference being that their are VERY few African-Americans outside the urban areas where as there are many more in the South. I think much of the North doesn't experience race relations because they haven't the chance. - I've written way too much ...

I am from the north and I have been in the south for 12 yrs some people don't like people from the north , particularly new yorkers because they have a cocky attitude, a know it all I'm all that and it turns people off . I work with a few new yorkers and they are not liked very much , I try to explain new yorkers to people here and they still don't understand, new yorkers that come from Harlem or the Bronx did not have much so when they come here and get a house and a car they act uppity they are use to scheming that is a way of life for them so they bring it with them and they use it to get jobs and promotions and etc.

Most Northerners are very inferior and jealous of the South. (better football, better job opportunities, better looking girls and better weather)......thats why they keep up with the redneck, hillbilly crap. I grew up in the North and I was the same way until I came South.....what a great move.

I have an in-law who just moved from Indiana to Alabama and they call her a cracker and a yankee. Southern people are very nice, but they tend to be very prejudiced. It's just the way they are raised. I still love em though.

I have heard southerners refer to northerners as "DAMN YANKEES". I guess they are just not happy with the second best team in the American League East this year.
