I love the sentiment of somehow honoring your sister with the middle name, but I really, honestly dislike Rain. Especially if the first name is something that might sound like a description or phrase, as in your Isabelle Rain example. Sounds like a question to me. "Is a bell rain?" LOL Of course not ... it's a BELL! ;) Sorry, I couldn't do that to my child.

You might consider using your sister's first name, or perhaps the name of a favorite character or some other connection you two shared. Another idea is to use a name with "rain" in it -- Grainne (GRAWN-ya), Igraine, Lorraine or even simply Raina (at least then it doesn't sound like such a "thing," know what I mean?). Hope that helps.

I like Rain, even as the first name, very pretty. But consider Irish Mommy's comment, here's a few alternatives, Iris, Hailey (like the comet), Aislinn. I think Isabelle Rain is lovely, however children can be very cruel.

I think it's a beautiful name. Maybe, though, a different spelling? I know my friend's middle name is "Dream" and she haaaates that it's a "real word". Maybe Rayne or Raine? Just so it's unique and different!

By the way, Isabelle is my absolute favorite baby name ever. <33 Belle Rain; Izzy Rain; how adorable!

Do you have a special reason for Rain being your sister's middle name? Is it like a family surname? It is a nice name and if it has meaning for you, then it's a winner. If it doesn't have special meaning to you, then I'd search and find another name with meaning to you (Hail, Thunder, or Downpour wouldn't be it).

yes, but my wife quickly vetoed that one. I actually wanted Raine for a boy first name.

It's nice, but think it's better spelled Raine

I think it's a great idea to give your daughter the same middle name as your sister. Your sister should feel honored! I think you should spell your daugher's middle name "Rayne" though - that way it's geared to your daughter too.
