I picked it off little by little because it just wasn't going away. It was kind of gross. BUT it only LOOKED dry. It actually felt gooey like boogies with hair attached to it.

My daughter had very stubborn cradle cap! I called several moms and this was the order of their advice:

First try washing it well, scrub gently at it with a baby hairbrush (soft bristles). Sometimes all it needs is the flakes to be loosened up. Try this for a couple days, if no improvement, move to the next option. (If some improvement, keep trying for another few days).

Try rubbing vaseline onto it. A little mosturizing may help. This is not a good option if your baby has lots of hair. :)

Next option, there is a shampoo made for cradle cap. I think its Johnson & Johnson. Try that for a few days.

If its still really stubborn, use Selsen Blue. Use as little as possible, and be VERY careful not to get it in the baby's eyes. It will hurt! (I was so scared to use this on her, but 2 moms said it worked for them).

The Selsen Blue was the only thing that worked for my baby, but I only had to use it once.

After bathing, rub olive oil on the baby's scalp. Also, don't wash the hair every time you bathe the baby. This way the natural oils stay and the scalp doesn't dry out.

I think Gerber makes a cradle cap brush, too. It's soft bristled, and you just use it in the bath in circular motions.

My son gets cradle cap from time to time. I rub a little bit of baby oil into his hair and scalp let it soak in for about 5 minutes then take a fine tooth baby comb and gently comb, the dry scales flake right off. When I am done I rinse his hair and done.

I forgot the exact tips because it was so long ago, but use baby oil (or vegetable oil) and massage the baby's head loosening up the dry skin. Then wash the baby's head as normal with water and shampoo. Repeat this process a few times a day until it goes away. If it's really bad, call the doctor.

All cradle cap happens to be is very dry skin, dry needs moisture, babyoil or creamy baby oil is the way to go.

this is what i did but my son was only around 1 month when he had it:

lather up their head with baby oil about 10 min before bath time (try to keep them from getting it everywhere)
while in the bath, scrub the flakes gently with a soft wash cloth. it took about 2 or 3 days for it to completely clear with my son. hope this helps!

My son had A LOT of hair so I couldn't use lotion or baby oil with out his head looking really greasy so I just use baby soap like J&J no more tears and worked it in with a soft baby brush with in a couple of days it was gone!!

I just used lotion and a brush. If you put the lotion on after a bath then use a soft brush in circles, it should come off. Some people say to use baby oil, but the lotion worked good for me.
