Your husband needs professional help, and the
Army will only do him more harm if he is still an
alcoholic. First of all the army is not going to
accept him as he will be given vigorous test and
medical exams and they can tell if he has a
alcoholic problem or not right from the start.
His Cousin needs to help him get into a program
to dry him out and possible cure him of his
disease. The start must come from your husband
because if he does not want help then no-one
can help him.

You need to help your husband, and HE needs to help himself. If losing everything isn't bad enough for him........ I don't know what is. There are many programs out there to help alcoholics, but none of them will work if he doesn't want to stop. The first step has to be his own. No one can make him stop drinking. He has to do this for himself. There are many support groups that will do all they can to help him, if he really wants to stop drinking. The Army can't make him stop unless he is monitored every minute of every day, and that's not going to happen.

The Army isn't going to do anything to MAKE him stop drinking other than suggest he join AA or go into rehab. If he doesn't quit drinking he can be discharged based upon his drinking problem. Obviously your husband doesn't think he has a problem and he isn't going to quit drinking until HE wants to.

Well if he is having real problems, it may be a show stopper for him to even get in.
The Army does take care of their people if they are in, the are a number of programs, that can help him.
Either way, he is going to want the help, until then, there is really no hope.

No, the military isn't the answer to this problem. If he's out of control with his drinking he needs to realize he has the problem otherwise there will be no helping him.

He's going to have to realize the drinking is going to cause him to lose everything he has before he'll seek the help he needs.

Good luck to you.

Why doesn't he go to rehab, but first off he is an alcoholic he has to want to stop you can not force someone to quit and if you try you will loose them for good cause they will then hide it from you.

Well if he did join the army, then I guess he got the help somehow. Because you have to pass several drug tests to get in.(alcohol included).
