I was told by a friend that when you surf the web with a wireless card , your MAC address is located on the motherboard. I thought MAC addresses were coming
with the Wireless adaptor??

The MAC address comes from the network card- wherever that happens to be located. If the network card is integrated on the motherboard, then that's where it's reading the MAC address from. If you're using an external adapter (like USB) then the MAC address isn't coming from the motherboard.

For most notebooks, the WiFi adapter is a plug-in card so it's not really the motherboard, even though it's inside the case.

Pretty sure it's the motherboard, since all computers have a MAC, regardless of whether or not they have a wireless adapter.
