I don't understand how stress can actually make your period late. And if your on the pill does that theory still apply?

Becky is right, it all has to do with horomones. Bascially if you are really stressed, your body thinks that it would not be a good time to get pregnant, so it does whatever it can to prevent a pregnancy. I don't know about the pill, but it probably is the same resoning.

Yes, stress can stall your period. If oyur agitated about a test or your family frustrates you, it can cause your period to be delayed. However, if you are on birth control pills, they are chemically altered to make your period start, no matter the amount of stress in your life. Believe me, I know.

I don't know about the pill part, since my periods are repressed anyways. But stress can factor in on your body in many, many ways. Think of it as your body saying that you need to try to calm down and take a breath either physically or metaphorically.

It's all to do with hormones. When your stressed, your body releases hormones to try and relieve the stress, and it is those hormones which affect your cycle.
