Wars on ideas never pan out too well.
Look, if you are angry about 9/11 and want to hold the terrorists who organized it accountable, be my guest. But saying that you've declared a war on terror (an idea) is riduculous.
You can label anyone a terrorist and go after them whether they have done something or not. This is not a way to go about doing things. Iraq did not have anything to do with 9/11, but we labelled the country as a terrorist country and invaded it.
What's to stop us from labelling any other country a terrorist nation and in vading them too? Declaring a "war on terror" gave the President incredible powers that the founding fathers never intended for him to have.

War on terror is a propaganda phrase. There are, always have been, and always be terrorists in the world. As for an all out war on terrorism there can't really be a war on an idealism but on a country. Since terrorism is fosterd by many countries knowinly or not it would be absurd to think any country could totally anhiliate terrorism. The best we can do is to make it difficult for them to recruit by doing things like getting out of their perceived sacred lands. The people of the Middle East, for example, want to live in the 14th Century. We should let them.

I never did. Wars are fought by nations in the air, ground and sea with uniformed military personnel. Terrorists should be dealt with by police and intelligence agencies who know how to deal with homocide matters.

I prefer to call this a culture war, between the modern liberal west and the primitive islamics. They are scared to death of the modern world and are doing what all primitives do when confronted with the death of their culture, including committing acts of terror. If you don't believe it ask the family members of the 9/11 victims

If you think that terrorism is a fabrication for the Bush administration, think again.
Terrorists don't care who's in the White House. They want to kill us or convert us all in the west over to Islam.
I'm Canadian, BTW. We have military over in Afghanistan right now.

I've never been for terrorism. But, the 'war on terror' is just using fear as a political gambit. We can fight terrorism without giving up our freedom, and we can do it without declaring 'war' on it. Right now, our government is behaving just as badly as the terrorists.

The panacea to all the world's ills is liberalism.
