Just some wine (for my guests...not me) Appropriate or inappropriate? There will also be a sparkling cider punch.

Go for a frutier, lighter wine, like Arbor Mist. Its very tasty, and has less than half the alcohol of wine (to promote good behavior).

Yes, it's a great idea. If you don't mind and if alcohol makes sense considering the time and / or theme of the party or if the guests will really enjoy this, then i say go for it. Just make sure to have something non-alcoholic on hand for yourself and other guests who prefer not to drink. I served margaritas at my baby shower. Everyone had a great time!

I think that would be just fine. Also, you can get some champagne & orange juice & make mimosas. Then, for those who don't want alcohol, you can put Sprite in with the OJ instead of the champagne. Something yummy for everyone :).

It seems like all the nay-sayers who are against having alcohol at your shower are equating drinking alcohol with getting drunk. I'm sure you know that there's nothing wrong with RESPONSIBLE drinking :).

I don't see a problem with it. As long as you aren't drinking it and it doesn't bother you to have other people around drinking, then go for it!
