My 1st marriage we'd been together 5 year's when he finally married me and we had 3 kids.I proposed to him , well actually gave him an altimatum , quit cheating with other ******* and marry me or get out.
2nd marriage we were together 3 or 4 years lol neither 1 of us can remember which year we actually tied the knott wether it was 2003 / 2004 , its on the certificate , we know what date we married because it was the same date he asked me to be his in 99 lol.I proposed to him too because his ex wife had scared him off marriage after she tore him a new @zzhole during their divorce.
If you do it the right way , date , marry , buy a house , have kid's , in a perfect world 14 months to 18 months and thats with him asking you on the 12 month mark because that show's real committment.
But we're not in a perfect world.

I don't think you should have a time frame in getting married. Marriage is something that you need to think about. Love is the greatest factor of all but, you've got to consider the smaller issues too. Are you & your partner are emotionally mature? Are financially secure?, etc. So, for me just enjoy each other and if that day comes when you think and feel that your ready to take the plunge then that is the right time to get married....

i think it depends on the couple. I got engaged to my husband after only being together for 8 months and we were together for 2 and 1/2 years when we got married

Frankly my guy couldn't get married fast enough, as a woman I would not consider marriage if I had to put a question like this out there-----run don't walk. There are actually pleasing men out there but like my daughter you are afraid and will stick with a guy who doesn't satisfy----just out of fear. Sorry for you both, I am a woman that has to be satisfied and it was 27 before that happened----I'm picky, thank God.

The answer is that there is no answer for this question, and anyone who gives you a time frame doesn't really know much about marriage. The only one who can answer that question is you and your partner. When you're both ready for that step, you both know. No one else can tell you...
