Okay.
x+2+2x=x+10
First, combine like terms.
3x+2=x+10
Subtract x from both sides.
2x+2=10
Subtract two from both sides.
2x=10
Divide both sides by 2 to get x alone.
x=5

There's your answer.

x+2+2x=x+10

Simplify to get

3x + 2 = x + 10

Subtract x from both sides
3x + 2 - x = x + 10 - x

2x + 2 = 10

Subtract 2 from both sides

2x + 2 - 2 = 10 - 2

2x = 8

Divide both sides by 2

2x / 2 = 8 / 2

x = 4

CHECK:

x + 2 + 2x is 4 + 2 + 2*4 is 14

x + 10 is 4 + 10 is 14

if x+2+2x=x+10, combine all the x's on the same side and all the numbers on the other side:
x+2x-x=10-2
simplify:
2x=8 and therefore
x=4
then substitute and check your answer
4+2+2(4)=4+10

6+8=14 and since that is correct, x does =4

x=4

x+2+2x=x+10
-x -x
2+2x=10
-2 -2
2x=8
/2 /2
x=4

x+2+2x=x+10

collect terms x+2x-x = 10-2

so 2x = 8

and x=4
