No not everyone poos in labour.

I didn't have an enema (they don't do them for childbirth in the UK these days and I'm glad as my mum had to have an enema back in the 1970s when she gave birth and she said it was horrible - worse than the labour! lol!)

And I didn't poo.

Don't know why but I didn't. I didn't have diarrhoea beforehand either. Neither did I throw up (something else I was told that "everyone" did in labour) . . .

Everyone's different.

The thing is, I imagine that if it did happen you wouldn't notice because everyone would be so focussed on getting the baby out and anything that did "sneak out" back there would be whisked away by the midwife before you even noticed it!

But personally I can't speak from experience because it never happened to me.

No, if you don't get an enema that doesn't mean you'll poo while giving birth. My mother didn't poop for any of my brothers [she had a c-section so they numbed everything down there, so she went to the restroom], & I voluntarily got an enema cause I couldn't poo for a few days and didn't want to poo while giving birth, & I didn't ...i did pee though! lol. but on that case as well, not everyone pees either

No, its not definite. I did with my first baby, but not with the second. And I didn't get an enema ( I don't even think they give those anymore). When you are pushing out the baby, its the same muscle as when you are going "poo", so if there is anything in there, its coming out. In the middle of labor and pushing, the last thing you are worried about is "pooing"

no not all people poo whilse giving birth, i had my son almost 12weeks ago and i thought i was pooing but i wasn't it was just all in my head because people told me you didn, it is hard to tell whether you will or not but closer to the time your body should clear the system out before i had my son i had diahror and it helped make sure i didn't pass anything during the birth, many people get enema's but i believe they can cause more bother than its worth, if you are worried about this don't be because no doctor will be grossed out by this and only a small amout of people actaully are effected by this, sadly it is a great fear many of us carry at the end, but belive me even if u do when u see your baby nothing in the world will matter not even poo or anything

good luck

no - I did with my first delivery, only it was only a tiny bit and was whisked away by a gloved hand and some paper really quickly! The second birth, it has only just struck me, no, this did not happen at all. So no, it's not definite.

However - don't worry about it, if indeed you are - there are so many indignities to birth you can't possibly worry about it - plus, all the midwives etc involved know only too well what is involved in delivering a baby and take it all in their stride as a natural part of the process - they certainly don't worry about it.

In the UK, tI didn't think they bothered with enemas any more - to be honest, I would rather risk pooing than undergo one of those....!

I have had 4 children. I did not poo. I did pee all 4 times, lol. it can be prevented, just be sure those last weeks you eat healthy so you can use the bathroom in a regular manner. if you have an episiotomy it does hurt, the stitching does not hurt. healing takes some time. It burns when you pee the first few days. But you will be given tucks to soothe the burn, and a spray bottle to clean youeself and the area after using the bathroom. I just want to say I have been cut everytime. no not eveyone tears or has to have an incision. doctors try their personal best to help the vagina stretch around the babys head, cutting is last resort. they dont like you to tear either, so you definately want the cut over the tear, it heals much better

I had two enemas before my baby and I didn't poo but it does happen to alot of women. It's very common to pass wind too, I would imagine that every woman passes wind.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you begin labour, you usually have an urge to empty your bowels anyway, but this is way before your up on bed with legs spread to the world!! Having an urge to poo is sign labour and body getting ready. It is quite difficult to poo during last stage labour because the way the babys head comes down, it blocks off your rectum anyway (have a look at some birth books, there may be pictures of this?) Dont worry - it'd put bet on it you wont poop! I worried about same thing before I had my first, but when you get down to nitty gritty, pooping yourself wont enter your mind! PROMISE!!! Good luck..........

I didn't have an enema abd I didn't poop while pushing. But I also didn't eat for 24 hours before I gave birth. You're not allowed to eat while in labor. Anyway not all women poop but a lot do.
