Hi,
I was a complete idiot, I spent 8.5k on a kitchen from mfi and all I have had from them is %$"&.
The kitchen was discontinued, I was told 10 days before delivery after having it on order for 10 weeks! Then half of it didnt turn up after I was given a substitute - The reason being........Every other person who had this kitchen was given the same one and ran out!
I have no kitchen, upset family, and all mfi do is fob me off telling me it will be there in a few weeks. They dont care, they lie and continually make FAKE promises, they have stopped me calling the store I bought it from the number has been disconnected, you now have to go through an 0844 number @ 10p a minute!!
I was on the phone to them earlier for almost an hour - not because I wanted to but BECAUSE THE DELIVERY DID NOT TURN UP!!
I went into the store and was confronted by a man shouting at a salesman saying he had the same thing.
I hear loads of people are having the same, Are they going bust?
Your experiences!

I bought a kitchen last year from MFI they measured it and designed it and they were going to install for £1250 but
they sent there pre planner round who was really a joiner
and he told me he was going to charge an extra £150 on top
of the amount they said and next came there electrician he
said he was going to charge another £250 on top of the charge & then the plumber he was charging an extra £90
so I cancelled the fit of my kitchen and got people to do
the job myself it cost me £800 but the problem was when my kitchen came it was fitted the same week I found they had ordered too much so I went to the showroom and explained that they had ordered two much and they said they didn't
do returns the assistant was very rude and they were very reluctant to give me any money back saying it was my fault
I certainly will not be buying anything else from them and I would advise anyone else not to buy from them be aware
they are the worst scum of the earth in my opinion.

I bought a kitchen about 8 years ago from MFI and it was a terrible experience and I would never go near that shop again. The workman walked off the job half way through becasue he said he had another booking and never came back to finish the kitchen. MFI didnt care. It took MONTHS of me shouting at the shop manager and phone calls to head office and complaints to trading standards before they came back and then they sent a useless so called carpenter who cut the shelves all crooked. MFI is diabolical in my experience.

So sorry to hear of your experience with MFI , I am thinking of moving and did consider going to them but certainly shan't now. We bought kitchen cupboards and wardrobes about five years ago from Wickes and the quality and service was excellent - mind you we did fit them ourselves.
Wickes do state in the conditions at the back of their catalogue that you pay nothing until you're completely satisfied. Ikea are good quality too.
Friends of mine had nothing but trouble with Moben and B & Q.
I seem to remember hearing quite a while ago that MFI were in trouble and had been bought out by their employees.
I wish you luck, my advise to you is, get your money back and go elsewhere.

i had problems too waited 6 months for mine altogether, then some bits were damaged,so had to wait longer- a total nightmare we had. I wrote a letter of complaint and they did give us compensation, but it was nothing compared to the grief we had over our kitchen! that was 2 years ago. It's in now, and i love it, but if good service is what your looking for - dont buy from mfi! we had 2 small kids and no kitchen for weeks and weeks!Sorry you had to go through this too! eventually sorted now though

I would think this is actionable under English Civil Law, and possibly criminal under retail regulations. If you have a mind to, then see a solicitor.

You will need to have facts to hand, actual dates, times, etc. If possible, what was said and who said it. You need also to be able to quantify your losses.

Many solicitors have a free session to establish whether or not it's worth pursuing.

The main point is that if someone makes a promise for consideration they are expected to deliver. Your consideration to them was 8.5k, their consideration to you a kitchen as good as the showroom has not yet materialised

Get in touch with this Shoppers Rights Telephone number (It's a Northern Ireland tele. no. but they will help you)
Online complaints helpline from The Consumer Council & Trading Standards Service....0845 600 62 62 or www.consumerline.org
They will tell you what your rights are - they were most helpful when I had a problem with a large furniture company.

They've been well known for having no customer service for years! Their kitchens look great in the showroom - they left my friend with 5 kids with no plumbing or worktops at all for 6 weeks, when the worktop finally arrived all the angles had been cut on the opposite side to where they should have been!

£8,500. for a kitchen, whats it made of 100% solid Granet?
or does this also include fitting?

If includes fitting, your problems will get worse.

I fit Bathroom and Kitchens. I would never use mfi. Its nornal(in my experance) for items not to turn up, or turn up damaged.
I will not fit mif orders, because of the delays.

I would get your money back.
