how do i work out the reactats?

You can't work it out from just C2H5.There is more than one way of obtaining ethanol.

Not possible to answer. There are many possible routes to a synthesis.

One possible route is the fermentation of carbohydrates or sugars. This is how we make alcoholioc beverages

The usual way is to ferment sugar solution using yeast:

C6H12O6 -----> 2C2H5OH + 2CO2

In industry steam is reacted with ethene:

C2H4 + H2O -----> C2H5OH
