2(4x+7)= 3(2x-4)
x= -13
first destribute (or multiply the (4x+7) by 2 and the (2x-4) by 3) to get
2*4x+2*7= 3*2x-4*3
8x+14=6X-12
then add 12 to both sides
8x+14=6x-12
+12= +12
8x+26=6x+0
8x+26=6x
then subtract 8x from both sides
8x+26=6x
-8x -8x
0+26=-2x
26=-2x
after this you must devided both sides by -2 to get the X alone
26=-2x
/-2 /-2
-13=X
Answer -13=X

first use the distributive property so multiply 2 and 4x and 2 and 7. then it is: 8x + 14 = 6x - 12 (you use the distributive property on both sides). Then subtract 8x from both sides so now you have: 14 = -2x - 12. Then add 12 to both sides and you have 26 = -2x. Then you divide by -2 so x = -13.

2(4x + 7) = 3 (2x - 4)
8x + 14 = 6x - 12 Multiply it out
2x + 14 = -12 subtract 6x from both sides
2x = -26 subtract 14 from both sides
x = -13 divide both sides by 2
