I read time and time again about the muslims and middle eastern folk hating americans because of the freedoms they have....

The only freedoms you have is what is allowed you by the government, you citizens are treated like kids, can't do this, can't do that....you can't even see a pair of titties on the television unless you pay extra for cable, you can't drink alcohol in a car even as a passenger, you have to be 21 yrs to drink legally but you can be sent to war to die for your country at 18yrs, you can buy a gun from walmart with a permit and go shoot someone, but you can't find a playboy magazine there for love nor money, you are charged a fortune for your healthcare because the government simply doesn't care about the average citizen.....unlike England or Canada or France where they actually care about their people.

STOP BITCHING ABOUT THE MILITARY DEFENDING YOUR FREEDOMS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE!!!!

Right.... Americans have more individual freedoms than any other people in the world. We elect those people that make the laws here, so those are laws that the majority of us want.

Titties and other immoral things are kept off the TV for childrens' sake. But adults have unhindered access to see them.

Why the hell would any intelligent person find driving a 1 ton metal monster killing machine while they're drunk a good idea or a privilege?? Are you serious?

The drinking age use to be 18 back in the 70's I think. Alcohol is a huge responsibility, and most 18 year olds are pretty irresponsible. Most 21 year olds are irresponsible.

So how does HAVING the ability to buy a gun go against freedoms like you are implying? And the vast majority of people, especially ones that buy guns with permits, do not go and shoot people, ignoramus. It's the criminal element that buys the guns illegally on the black market that kill people. I have no problem finding Playboy magazines. They are easily available.

We are charged a fortune? Guess you don't realize that your high taxes goes toward a poorly run bureaucratic government health care system. Government does not spend money well. While our health care needs some adjustment, like getting rid of frivilous lawsuits against doctors and hospitals, getting the government and it's regulations out of the health care business, and let the free market dictate the costs which would cause them to plummet. We have the most effective care in the world. Why do you think so many foreigners come here for treatment? Why are so many European countries are allowing more and more privately run health care facilities to open, as an alternative to the stale government run ones? Why does the Royal British family and many other privileged people from Europe go to private clinics and hospitals instead of the so called great government run facilities? Health care is NOT a right, and free market competition, without government regulation, causes prices to go down, sparks more innovation and technological advances in medicine! Besides, most of the people that are uninsured in America are either, rich and do not need it, young and healthy making them feel they don't need it, are to lazy to aquire it from the state they live in, since every state offers some kind of socialized medicine for low income people. And anyone can get it as long as you aren't making over $5000 a month.

Ah I see the enlightened one has once again come to lavish it's precious opinion upon us feeble masses.

You sir, are an idiot.

But the basic answer is this:

Radical fundamentalist Islamists believe that all secular government is evil. Hence a Democracy or a Republic is evil. Why? Because secular governments often times give their citizens (in exchange for votes/support) a lot of freedom to practice whatever religion they wish, or live life in whatever manner they so wish (within reason - hurting other people is usually illegal).

Radical Islamic fundamentalists on the other hand believe that EVERYONE should follow Sharia law or be destroyed as the evil infidels they are.

Most Americans are hung up on the 'freedom bull-****' because they aren't Muslim, nor do they want all women covered from head to toe in baggy cloth, nor do they want people being stoned to death in the street, publicly exucuted at the local football game, shot for studying science, etc...

Now stop being bitter and petty.

I love the word Freedom. I agree with you on a lot of points but let's face it we have a country that is way better then all three of those put together. So we haven't perfected the Healthcare system. And we can't watch naked girls on regular TV. And we can't legally drink until we're 21. We still only have one official language. And our cities don't smell like **** because we've been living in the same filth for hundreds of years. Oh and our teeth are not all ****** up, that one was about you England. You can't have a gun? Ever? And the most important thing is we will kick the ever living **** out of all of you bitches anytime any place. But beyond that. You are right we shouldn't push to fight for Freedom. It doesn't make any sense. I think Bush watched Braveheart one time to many.

You won't like this answer.
FIRST: OUR CONSTITUTION IS THE GREATEST DOCUMENT EVER WRITTEN IN THE WORLD.
Second, not everyone wants to see 'titties' on the television. I own a set, so I don't need to anyway. If you can't afford cable, do without. And First Amendment rights allow titties on tv. Porn is a form of free speech.
Third, most states have a law about drinking as a passenger for a reason. We don't like drunks in public, and drunk people cause accidents, so we made laws to protect us from them, that's why.
Fourth, even 21 seems not to be the best 'age of reason' to allow drinking. People that age die in high numbers from involvement with alcohol.Maybe the age should be 30. Fifth, we have an all volunteer army. If being sent to die in a war at 18 is the choice of our corrupt Congress, and the impotent Senate, by instituting a draft,we the people shall strive to stop them any way we can. Sixth, bad people shoot people with guns from Wal-Mart.Some people just want to defend themselves from those bad people, so they buy a gun too. We need the 2nd Amendment for that.It is a great protection for the citizenry of this country. Seventh, there are magazine stores that carry Playboy in nearly every city. It sounds like you are having withdrawals or something. Perhaps you should seek help for that. You could subscribe and have it delivered! Oh, and thank the First Amendment for the fact that Playboys get printed AT ALL.Eighth, our healthcare is so expensive because lobbyists and others helped create laws to keep us from capping health care costs. We need laws to help us, not worry about whether our government 'cares' for us. We should care enough about ourselves to do these things, like helping get new laws made to cap them and create ways lower income families can get help on a sliding scale.Ninth, you don't sound like you are an American. If you are not, why trouble yourself with our affairs? And if you are, you need an edumacation, not more beer.
OUR MILITARY IS DOING IT'S JOB AND WE ACCEPT THAT. WHAT WE DON'T ACCEPT IS THE REASON THEY WENT TO WAR IN AFGANISTAN AND IRAQ IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE FALSE-FLAG ATTACK ON 9-11 OPENED THE DOOR FOR THEM TO ATTACK ANYONE ON EARTH. BUT THE NEOCONS KNOW WHO THEIR ENEMIES ARE: ARABS IN IRAQ. WE HAVE PLENTY OF FREEDOMS LEFT, AND ONE OF THEM IS TO CALL FOR OUR CONGRESS AND SENATE TO DO SOMETHING. WE ARE TRYING. BUT WE CANNOT DO IT WHEN IGNORANT PEOPLE KEEP DRAGGING US BACKWARD INSTEAD OF FORWARD. I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. MY COUSIN IS ONE OF THEM.

Wow, sounds like the freedom you enjoy includes drinking and porn, since you brought it up several times in your rant. What a lovely life. Little do you know, there's lot more to most Americans' lives than that. As far as health care, it's taken out of my paycheck automatically, along with dental care that I don't even notice. I think it's about time to get back to your online porn, drinking, and beating off. Cause that's about all your worth.

Two main points.

1. Way too often, people use 'freedoms' and other countries hating our freedoms as an excuse for them hating us.

2. You seem to have confused freedoms, and laws. Freedoms reference you rights and abilities to post questions just like the one above on a public forum, such as this, without fear or recrimination. It is the freedom to travel freely around the country without having to show documentation permitting you to do so.

What a corporation chooses to sell in it's stores has nothing to do with the freedoms allowed us in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. What you pay for health care has no correlation to freedoms.

(By the way, the National Health Services, NHS, in England is far from free. Every wage earner in England pays a significant portion of their wages in taxes for it.)

Yes...we have regulations. And this is going to be stereotypical, but its a democrat thing. They don't think that we can handle ourselves, and that's ridiculous. This whole 'freedom' concept is one that no other nation in the world will ever be able to truly understand. its something that you are pretty much born with here. I don't care about anywhere else. I don't see anyone flocking to those countries to fulfill their dreams. No one is SENT to die for their country, they go because they realize that America is worth it. Their freedoms are worth it. I'm sorry that you don't think so, but I guess its an American thing.

Freedom is a relative word... I believe in freedom for my nation but to be honest I really don't care to free other people unless they ask for it and even then I would be wary. I don't recall a lot of Iraqis (and Iranians today) begging us to free them.

People that say we went to "free" the citizens of Iraq are naive. We don't fight wars to free people and nor should we because war is a expensive undertaking... We really make wars to strengthen our nation's security. In this case, I don't think we did that but that is the real reason; freedom has got nothing to do with it.

(no longer that i've got faith Democrat supporters are any much less naive.)

You need to differenciate:

FREEDOM
RIGHTS
DUTY
OPPORTUNITIES

As people have more freedom in the US they have less rights... take the example of the health care... they are free to spend their money how they want it because they have more freedom but unless the duty of paying a tax is applied, the state can´t provide them with the basic right for a health coverage.
