And we are officially entering a repeat of history.
As I recall, the dimplomatic talks with hitler went smoothly...and he kept his word.
Oh, and so did Yassar Arafat.

"keep your enemies closer" true, but that doesn't mean you take your enemies at face value and trust them at your word....they're your enemy.

Actually Al-Qaeda started this fight, 9/11/2001. Thats what this whole topic is about, not Iraq. Has nothing to do with Iraq.

We have no Diplomatic ties with al-Qaida! You mentioned Adolph Hitler and Yasser Arafat. Those were and are the leaders of their respective nations. Unfortunately, the members of al-Qaida do not come from just one country in the middle east. It goes without saying that we should make every effort to employ diplomacy in talks with any Head-of-State or country that "houses" these nomads and sanction those who will not co-operate. The problem is that no one country will align themselves with the group! Sanctioning a country we believe has such ties would then be morally wrong. So, what do we do? We still try, with every middle eastern country and beyond, to agree to help the USA and the world ferret these people out by not supporting their efforts, so they can be brought to justice. A very intimidating and daunting task indeed!

Diplomacy only works if both parties want it to work.
Unless aQ comes to the table prepared to talk, negotiate, and stand by any decisions made, it is a total waste of time.

I want to understand this correctly: do you REALLY want to compare al-Qaeda with the PLO or Hitler? I would be careful about using those kind of comparisons.
What country invaded another on the justification that its citizens and national security interests were at stake, pretexts that were totally untrue? Germany in invading Czechoslavakia and Poland in the 1930's. That would make Mr. Bush similar to whom...?
Just food for thought. Cheers.
ADDED RESPONSE:
I absolutely agree it has nothing to do with Iraq. It has to do with inappropriate comparisons.
Cheers.

Recently, the Saudi government could not negotiate or successfully use diplomacy with their own home bred militants when these terrorists commandeered a mosque and kept numerous hostages - why do so many people think that we infidels can talk to these radicals?

The only diplomacy we should use with them should be extended in the form of a nuclear bomb.

F*** that! No way, no how! That's just giving into their demands. Any country wanted to show signs of weakness to Al-Qaeda, be my guest, but there is no way in hell I would agree to or support what they're doing.

This tells you who's really winning the war on terror.
Once we sit down wit them at the table, it's basically signing a future surrender contract to them.
