First of all, lay in the position that you actually sleep in - as if you were asleep.
Next, close you eyes, and DON'T open them - again, as if you were asleep.
Next, Take a couple deep, slow breaths.
Listen to the sound of your own breathing.
Remember, "There is nothing I need to think about right now. There's always tomorrow".
Finally, give up on any ideas of 'trying' to sleep.
Just give up.
Just lay there 'pretending' to be asleep and soon you will be.
Good night...sleep good...see you tomorrow...
P.S. Avoid spicy food or exercise before bedtime.

1. Get into a routine of getting up and going to bed at the same times each day.
2. Keep active and busy in the daytime, but have at least an hour's relaxation before going to bed.
3. Keep the bedroom cool and the bed warm.
4. Drink coffee in the mornings only.
5. Drink herb tea or cocoa at least an hour before bedtime, and nothing else thereafter.
6. When you lie down, clear your mind of all worries and think about something pleasant and relaxing. Imagine walking through a lovely garden, look at the flowers and listen to the birds. Or imagine sitting on a sandy beach watching the waves lapping on the shore.
Hope you're asleep now!

I start up by having a everyday mattress time, have a warm tub/bathe. I study a e book for 10 or so minutes which makes me somewhat sleepy, I then turn off the easy and get gentle, I fairly have some recommendations which each and every from time to time make me pick the flow off into dreaming yet as quickly as I cant sleep I start up at my feet and tighten each and each muscle interior the physique two times until eventually you get to the pinnacle. you will in all threat locate which you're asleep in the previous you even end. different counsel: do no longer eat too quickly in the previous mattress, this would save your abdomen unsleeping and subsequently your sleep would be disturbed. evade caffeine- espresso and coke, sugar drinks be sure you have a marvelous, dark and gentle section for sleep, this would propose making your mattress in the previous you sleep so this is all snug and arranged for you. wish you sleep properly!

I used to have trouble falling to sleep too
I try not to be on the computer too late as this makes my brain too busy before I get in bed.
I also have a nice warm lavender oil bath
Drink warm milk or hot chocolate just before bed
Have a nice relaxing massage
Listen to calming music
Dont eat cheese before bed!
Write any worries you have on a piece of paper ( I keep a note pad near my bed)
This empties the mind!
OR all of the above
You should be asleep in no time :)

Think of a topic such as cars, then go through the alphabet with a car for each letter ie Alpha Romeo, Beetle, Corsa. If you go off course just put yourself back on and carry on untill asleep.
A long term solution is to use your bedroom for 2 things only sleeping and er well i'll let you guess the other one!

if you read a book that really helps most people. But dont watch tv or liste to music or go on a computer etc, because that makes you awake a bit more because of the elcctrical stuff from it. also something like feng shui (however its spelt) it says you should hide a tv away in your bedroom because it interfers with your sleep etcyou could always go for a walk aswell, speshly if your near a beach the sea air will help you sleep.

My other half suffers from insomnia and swears by this (which he only started recently, through the recommendation of a friend). Stand upright then bend over and touch your toes. Let you arms swing loosely for a few seconds. Stand up straight again and repeat 10 times, then go to bed and hey presto. Hope this works for you and sweet dreams.

Set yourself a regular bedtime routine, shower/bath, take a book to bed to read or have a radio on a talk channel and put it on low so it is a murmer. After your shower/bath, having low lighting in bedroom, get into bed, put lavender drops on your pillow and on your quilt, this will help you to relax. When you find yourself reading the same line a few times, put book down and try to sleep. You should just drift off. If you find you cant settle, go and get a warm drink of milk/horlicks/choc/etc, dont put tv on, take book and read in a low lit room again, then when you start to feel relaxed, go back to bed and try again. Your body should start to get used to the routine and you should find it easier to get to sleep each night.

Make sure there is fresh air in the room, so even in winter time open your window for a moment before going to bed.
Eat your last meal no later than four hours before going to bed.
Keep your feet warm.
Try to think of something really boring (not necessary counting sheep) and just relax.

Make sure your hands and feet are warm, it's a fact that it's easier to sleep once these parts of your body are warm.
Being full after eating (an hour or 2) is another way of "helping" to get you to sleep faster.
Being tired from a hard day of physical activites.
Having a blank mind or reading for half an hour before bed helps the brain shutdown, slowly but it helps.
all of the above put together should help anyone get to sleep superfast.
