My garbage can smells hurrendous, I am able to smell it by just walking outside. I tried using pin-sol and Palmolive dish soap, but nothing is working. Do you have any ideas?

We use lysol, but not the spray on kind, the liquid kind. We have a recycle and garbage bin that we clean out a couple of times a month. We dump the entire bottle in and add water. We ususally leave it in there for a few hours before we use a long handled brush to scrub the sides, dump it out, turn it upside down and let it dry. I also usually dump about a cup of baking soda or borax in the bottom at the same time, just for extra smell protection until we clean it again.

I would try lysol but if that does not work I have washed my trash can after it had been dumped with Dwn and one time with liquid Tide and it stopped the smell which it was pretty nasty.

Chlorine and lots of hot water might do the job. Leave it open in the sun if possible to dry.

Scrub it w/ dish soap, let it air dry completely, then spray disinfectant in it.

use some household beach and water. this will kill the bacteria in the can, which is releasing hydrogen sulfide which causes the smell.

Fill it with hot water, dump some bleach in, and let it sit overnight, and it will be as good as new!

I have washed mine with Dawn, then let it dry completely then soaked it with white vinegar. I drained it and let it airdry.
Good luck.
