She is not entitled to them. However, if an adult is taking care of her, they could petition for the money. Did her stepfather adopt her?
This does remind me of a friend whose father was legally required to pay child support up until the time she was 21. There came a point where the child (who was 18 at the time) moved in with her father, and the family went to court to resolve the issue of child support, since the child wasn't living with the mother receiving the child support anymore. In the end (I think this was settled out of court) it was decided that the child support money could be put into a savings account/trust fund for the child.

If that little gal of your needs growing up, then there's no time like the present. Does she have a room at your house? Belongings? Respect for the extra electric bills etc that must be paid whether she's fittin' out or not. If you feel you would like to save half of each check to give her when Dad dumps her back in your lap, then that might be nice. Nothing more pitiful than an ungrateful child.

Are you the father? In any case she is entitled to child support no matter where she lives. You might be able to go to court to get the amount reduced if her moving in with her Stepfather has significantly reduced her monthly expenses.
However, do you really want to do that? It would be detrimental to your child, and that is what it is all about, the child not the parents.
Best of luck to you.

call friend of the court and be honest. Otherwise you could be in for some serious pain from the legal system and possibly alot of press that you may not want. Teens are fast to let a news article out and will ride out the shock waves of the media. Older adults tend not to do so well with this and it can damage your career and such.

It takes a court order to change the name the check is sent to. Why is she living with her step-father? You didn't mention Mother. Need some more info here.

No. The parent who the minor is living with is entitled to receive those checks for compensation of providing room, board and clothing to the minor.

No, she is not entitled to them. That money was awarded to you by the courts, to use for her benefit as you deem appropriate. You will still recieve them, as you are legally responsible for her per the courts ruling.

depends on how many children this support pays for, I would just give her an allowance from the support, because I'm sure your still paying for her medical insurance an such.

Ummm..No, she is not entitled to it.. you are still offering a roof over her head if she wants it...it was not ordered for her..it was ordered for you.
my advice: do not just hand it over - especially if he went to live with the step-father in a 'pouting manner'. does she still have things in your house --- you are still providing a roof over 'her clothes' : )
