Who remembers going to the Midnight movies on Fri. and Sat. night? What do you remember? What did you like to go and see the most? For me it was Pink Floyd's "The Wall" (Man!! Nothing like the big screen for this movie! It was made for it!), Heavy Metal and Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same".

Oh yeah, they were the bomb!!!!! Song Remains the Same, The Kids are Alright, Rock n Roll High School, The Wall ( that was the very tail end of the midnight movie craze) of course, Rocky Horror, Let it Be, Yellow Submarine,etc..Those were the days!!!!!!!!!!! My sister's husband (boyfriend at the time) worked in a movie theatre that showed midnight movies. We would stay after closing with the crew and their friends, we'd watch the movies and, um, partake,LOL!!!!!

...I remember, most fondly, seeing those films as well, on the midnight movie madness circuit; however, being the self-proclaimed 'frightfilmfilm' that I am, I recall more distinctly, numerous midnight viewings of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Heavy Metal".....and one of the all-time greats, 1978's "Dawn of the Dead"...

...in first seeing DOTD at a midnight showing, I felt perversely privileged, as this was the very first unrated film I'd ever seen, and it seemed almost taboo...like seeing the horror version of a porno flick. The film was extremely scratchy and damaged...an invariably worn print from repeated viewings; the theater was absolutely packed, and there was definitely an air of various illicit substances being blown about the auditorium. The theater manager definately had to be aware of this, but turned a blind eye to it, since he was getting a hefty chunk of change for this showing...even more so, if it was a multi-plex, and ALL of the theaters were running midnight movies...

...no matter what the film was, audiences participation was a must at these showings, and there wasn't a film being shown, where the rambunctious audience WASN'T a-roar...

...horror films at these midnight showings were even more spooky and chillling, especially knowing that after the film was over, you still had to get home...in the dark and chilling hours that followed the witching hour....

...how I miss those bygone days!!1
