Roast pork? Turkey - you could celebrate Thanksgiving early? A good lasagne is always good too.

Actually what the others said about bbq is a good idea too. Nothing wrong with a good old American bbq

A MANLY MAN meal!!! Steak & potatoes... Pork Chops & mashed potatoes... Chicken condon bleu... Something that you know it's been a long time since he's enjoyed such a meal. Maybe Chicken enchiladas...

W/Gravy... Now you KNOW he's gonna say "Oh, I don't care... Whatever you wanna make". That's what any decent human being w/manners would reply. He's a Marine!! Make him something hardy!! Oh, & don't forget the beer!!! lol

I would suggest steak, a baked potato, cheesecake for dessert, and also, I'd make sure to have beers in the fridge! :-) It's also more about the company than the food, so just relax, and don't worry so much about the food as having a good time. If you and your hubby are having a good time, the friend will enjoy himself as well!

Also, thats super nice of you to take him in and feed him and make him feel comfortable, judos on you! :-)

When I got home from Afghanistan, the first thing I wanted to eat was Fish n Chips.

After that, I just wanted a home cooked meal prepared by someone who loved me. It doesn't really matter. What matters is atmosphere. Pretend there isn't even a war going on and he's home for good. That's all he wants.

What a person returning home from the military needs most
is "space." Time to think. Time to himself. Time with his wife
and children. So fix a good pot roast with a good apple pie.
and let him watch sports and such. The important thing is
don't "croud him." ():-})>{+ Bless Him. ***===

Pork chops with rice and mushroom gravy and homemade chocolate cake for dessert.

Lasagna, garlic bread, tossed salad and blackberry pie.

I'm making pot roast tonight. It smells heavenly.
