do you think MTV favors more to hip hop music than rock? i think hip hop should stay on BET and MTV should bring back the rock.

FINIALLY!! someone who has the same feelings about mtv as i do!! I got tired of all the rap crap and hip hop so i started watching fuse...most of the music they play is rock...and they have lessstupid relality shows than mtv also

Im not sure that I see favoritism for hip hop, I think theyre just playing up to the fans that perhaps are requesting more hip hop than rock. Maybe if there was any really good rock out there right now theyd find a reason to play it!

MTV used to be about all genres of music, but unfortunately it has decided to cater to shallow teenagers who like to listen to rap and hip-pop because they have become the money-making trend in the industry. As for rock music, there are rock bands that MTV holds in high regard (though I don't know if they really count since I don't listen to rock music) such as My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, and others, but again most of the artists that MTV will promote is more based on popularity than actual talent. I think MTV needs to go back to the days when music was played 24/7 and when they featured artists across the musical spectrum ranging from manufactured fluff to musical genius, and stop making money and advertisers their bottom line.

It would be nice if the music was a little more diverse...they seem to favor hip hop & pop music more than rock, but it doesn't mean that it all has to go over to BET... MTV people like it too.

I think both make what MTV is. A bit of a sell-out, but a somewhat diverse music station for pop, rock, hip-hop and the like!

actually, i just think MTV should bring the MUSIC back,period. If they did,they'd have plenty time for Rap, Rock, Pop, and everything, like in the beginning and everyone would be happy.

i think mtv tries to get a variety of music on its network...it just so happens that hip hop culture obviously dominates so why should they just play it on BET if they are trying to show viewers a wide spectrum of music

I am Black......I think MTV is TOO Sucky
however it is called M(usic)TV, and hip hop is a version of music, so they can play what they think their demographics can stand...OK.
