I am on my last couple days of the placebo birth control pills, and I forgot to call in my refill. I usually start the active pill on Sunday, but since the refill wont be ready, I have to start it Monday. Will missing a day of the active pill after the placebo pill mess up the effects?

It shouldn't have too much effect, especially if you've been using the pill for a while. Just to be safe (because I'm a HUGE advocate of "better safe than sorry"), use backup contraception if you have sex for 7 days.....

Yes! The most risky time to miss a pill is the week immediately after the placebo week. If you go longer than seven days without the hormones then the chances that you will ovulate are significantly higher. You will need to use a back up form of contraceptive (such as condoms) until you have taken an active tablet each day for seven days in a row.

When you miss one day of birth control, the recommendation is to double up on the second day, so in your case you should take both of the first two tablets on Monday. When you are taking birth control, the important thing is to keep the hormone levels in your body pretty stable. These elevated hormone levels are what keeps your body from releasing an egg. Starting back a day late probably isn't as risky as missing a day around the time you would ovulate, but it still may increase you risk of pregnancy slightly. I would say just to be on the safe side to use a condom or other backup method for at least a week, just in case this causes you to ovulate.

Good luck!

It shouldn't affect it too much, Just read on your pamphlet what to do if you forgot an active pill.

And, what I do with refills, is get the refill on my third week instead of pushing it with ordering the last few days of the pack, that way I have the pack that I need and won't be too worried with missing a pill.

Just do what you would normally do if you realized you skipped a day. Take two pills, right? No big deal. On Monday, just take two pills and use condoms for 7 days just to be sure.

You'll be fine!

No it shouldn't at all. My advice would be do not have sex until you take the pill. But you should be covered, either way. Birth control stays in your system for quite some time.
