You should always write in third person!! ALWAYS no matter what! When you cite the information you usually put it as (Author, Page #).
This site is super helpful with citations and for your works cited page. Just type in the information and the website puts everything in order for you!

Try to not use any pronoun. Informative essays just state the facts. If you use a quote the say something like, " According to Dr. Smith, a professor at XYZ college, etc..."
or ," In a recent study done by Brown University"
etc. That is how you credit a quote in the paragraph.

Write in 3rd person. Use he, she, it them, they, etc. Do NOT use I, we, us, or You.

For citing, it depends on the format. For MLA put the author's last name and page number in quotes. EX: "I believe that having a secure family is important in raising children" (Moss 22). {In this example it is okay to use I, because the author is saying it--not you}
