For US history, YES! a president is an elected leader but what has Bush EVER done without his advisors? Given there have been some pretty bad presidents in US history, at least they could lead to some extent.
If Bush were under attack and placed in his special protection chamber and his whole administration were wiped out would you trust any decisions made purely by him then? Enough said...

16-17% interest rates, the 2nd gas crisis, recession, inflation, giving away the Panama Canal, amnesty for Vietnam draft dodgers who went to Canada, the failed hostage rescue. And all of that put together isn't even the worst part.
That dubious honor goes to his withdrawal of support for the Shah of Iran over ' alleged human rights abuses ' which paved the way for an Islamic theocracy to occur. The whole world is still suffering for that, including Iranians esp. females.

Jimmy Carter, here's his resume, facts are facts, worst president in U.S. History, by a wide margin

Jimmy Carter's greatest hits
Thanks for the highest inflation in U.S. History,

Thanks for your failed middle east policy
Thanks for allowing IRAN to hold hostages in our own embassy for over 454 days,
Great JOB IN LETTING CASTRO empty out his jails and send us all his Killers, Rapists and drug dealers to the U.S., nice job on that one.
Thank god Reagan stomped your butt in 80 to clean up your failures.
