There are several ways to earn the free promo credits.
1. Go to the new product page everyday, that will net you 50 credits a day.
2. Play spinfree on the IMVU site once a day. The chance of actually winning is low, so do not pay for spins, but you can win small piles of credits there. I'm not sure of the link, so just search the site to find it.
3. Refer someone. If someone signs up to IMVU and uses your user name as a reference you will both get piles of IMVU credits.
Those messages that say "send this one to X people and then press Ctrl-F4 for Y credits" are scams. They are just chain letters and should be reported to IMVU.
There are no 'cheats' in IMVU, since they make money thought people purchasing credits from them.

the only way i know now is new products, traid play,cassiopeia, and free spin but none of them really work for free credits.
