I'm with you!
I have hopes for Poets & Pornstars. At least they're trying. Check them out:

Is that in the spirit or what?! By the way, lead singer Hal Ozsan is also an actor. He was Azazel in the "Fallen" miniseries and was the ONLY reason to watch it! He's also in Red Line.
And, here's a tribute video:

I still have every Metal LP, cassette and CD I ever bought, and they're my first choice for something to listen to. I'm certainly hoping P&P can win major amounts of fans.
Among my favorites are Guns N' Roses, Manowar, Fifth Angel, Leatherwolf, Def Leppard (the way they used to be), Motley Crue, Banshee, Skid Row (only with Sebastian Bach), House of Lords, Blue Murder, Winger, Bon Jovi, W.A.S.P., Faster Pussycat, Dio, Yngwie Malmstein, and too many more to pack into this post.
Hey! They're rerunning Headbangers Ball, so there must be some interest!

This is a really tough call--as I understand things, "hair metal" was more an offshoot of arena rock than heavy metal. The closest-to-heavy-metal groups were Mötley Crüe, Cinderella and Guns'n'Roses; drag comedians Twisted Sister get an honorable mention. As for Poison, count me out--they were a party band in disguise.

Hair metal's like just about any other genre..a few great songs (Whitesnake's "Here I go Again", Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It") some guilty pleasures (Bon Jovi, White Lion "When the Children Cry") and some stuff better left forgotten ("Unskinny Bop" anyone?)

Poison
Motley Crue
Pretty Boy Floyd
Vain
Winger

For the most part I'm with you. There were a couple that had a little too much spandex, and not enough metal (I bet they still got laid a lot though) but otherwise I'm there dude.

I'm in! Van Halen and Bon Jovi were my faves. Bon Jovi never left so they don't need to be brought back. I saw them last year in Phoenix. Sold out arena. Fab show--would go again, and again. They are ageless!!!.

.... no. Though Motley Crue was great, Hair Metal was one of those things I hate admitting I liked.
