Ok, here is the story. At 26k I changed the tires on my car. I did not buy the tires from Honda, but I did buy original stock tires. The tire tread on the set I changed was uneven, so I took my car to Honda to get my car aligned. This was about 2 years ago so the details are a bit fuzzy, but when I took the car to get aligned they told me that the tires were put on wrong. Anyways, they told me they would put the tires on correctly but I can't remember if they charged me for that.

I ALWAYS take my car to the same honda dealership to get serviced, and I have had 4-5 services since then and have not been told anything about the tires on my car except that the tires were wearing well. Tires on a S2000 can't be rotated but now they are telling me that my front tires are too small and are pointing int he wrong direction. What should I do?

Today I took it to get serviced and I get a call that my tires are pointed in the wrong direction, and that the front are too small.

I will be picking my car up in two hours and they have told me that they will put the tires on "correctly" at no charge. At this point I dont know if the people working today are clueless as to what is going on, or if I've been driving $700 dollar tires(the set of four costs this much) with the tires pointed in the wrong direction. I have put about 20k miles on them and if they were pointing in the wrong direction, will this do any damage to the tires?

I'm pretty upset right now and I will definately be talking to a surpervisor or manager or something, but I'm not sure what I should do about it because if they are rotated incorrectly, its because they did it wrong.

It sounds like you have tires with a "directional" tread pattern on the front axle. These always have to be pointed in a specific direction when mounted on the car. If they are on backwards it will cause water to get trapped in the tread when driving in the rain instead of being evacuated from the tread. That's not good. Correcting this is a very simple matter - just swap the wheels from side-to-side on the car. No need to dismount and re-mount and balance the tires unless only one was on incorrectly.

As for being "too small", the front tires on a Honda S2000 from 2000 to 2003 should be sized 205/55R16 89W and were originally fitted with the now-discontinued Bridgestone Potenza S-02 which has a directional tread pattern. 2004 and later models have a Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tire sized 215/45R17 87W in the front. This tire is "assymetric", not directional. It has an "inside" and an "outside" but can be freely rotated from one side of the vehicle to the other. As long as your front tires meet the appropriate size specs for the model year then no worries.

I would get the manager to point out what is wrong with the tires, right in front of you. If you have your paperwork from when this all started I would bring that too.

On an S2000 the rear tires maybe wider than the fronts (I'm not totally sure about this though).

I think it's a scam and I would seriously love to be the one that goes with you on this one. Cause it ain't right. You could try another place and see what they have to say about it. Simply go and ask them if there is anything wrong with your tires. Don't tell them this whole story until they give you their professional opinion first. Then go from there.

It sounds pretty fishy.

Good luck.

If your front and rear tires are of different sizes like some cars and are directional tires they can't be rotated 1 way only so ailment is critical>If all for are the same size and directional they can only be move front to rear same side of car>

Tires are marked and should be the same size on all four, plus some tires can only be mounted one way so if you get white walls/ lettering etc. and want the black out you can't on some treads.

I would talk to the service manager, and tell him you have already heard this story 2 years ago, right down to < how to "correct" it.
The whole story sounds bogus to me, and I think I would be looking for a different dealer..

How do you rotate tires on a car that they can't be rotated? I own a firebird.. I don't see how this is possible. And how can you rotate them wrong if it is possible, if it is possible there can be only one way to do it and that would be switching them from one rim to the other.

OK, now drive the car and be happy.

in the journey that your tires are no longer directional then crisscross left rear to superb front and left front to superb rear. in the event that they're directional then superb front to superb rear and left front to left rear.
