I am going away with my boyfriend for our first weekend away. (We haven't slept together yet). My period was due next week but it looks like its about to start early, tonight in fact, is there anything I can do to stop it? I am not currently taking the contraceptive pill but have done in the past. If I started taking them would it stop my period by Saturday? I have a friend who takes it and could give me some. Are there are other things I could do to delay it? I do not want it to spoil our weekend and 'first time' together.

It's never safe to take someone else's prescription medication. If your doctor didn't prescribe it to you, you don't have any idea how it will effect you, even if it's "just" birth control...Not every type is right for everyone. There isn't any real way to stop or delay your period without medication.

If you were already on the pill currently, you might have a shot of stopping your period but at this point you are bumming. Sorry. But for future reference, if you started taking the pill on a regular basis and wanted to by-pass a period, what you do is when you are about to start the last week of pills that are placebo pills, you do not take them, you immediately start your new pack of pills. There is also a birth control pill called Seasonal that you take like three months of regular pills continuously without a period and at the end of the pack (3rd) month you have the placebo pills and that is when you will have a period. Only once every three months. Check out their website @ www.Seasonal.com. But as always with these kinds of issues you should speak to your health care provider. DO NOT take a birth control pill that is meant for someone else. See your Gyno or Family Dr. A birth control method that is right for your friend may not be safe or effective for you.

Sorry, there's nothing you can do now, it seems like its too late. The only way you can delay your period is if you're on the pill for at least 3 weeks (i.e. you take a whole packet of 21 pills once a day) and don't do the 7 day break so you just start taking the next pack. Don't go taking pills prescribed to anyone else, you don't know how they might effect you and it won't work just by taking one. In future go to your doctor for the pill if you want to have more control over if you have a period every month.

No. It's too late for that to work, not to mention other consequences for both you and the friend with the pills.

Do ask your doctor, but barring anything that s/he might be able to do, may I suggest that you discuss the issue with your boyfriend? Many men do not mind a wit you being on your period. Ok, SOME activities might be avoided, just due to little hangups about them, but there is really very little actual bleeding involved.

I know it feels like a spoiler, but a frank discussion about this with him could actually lead to even more intimacy than you might imagine. It can be a very tender thing for him to understand how much this means to you, to accept you even when on your period and it really effects very little.

Mature adults deal with this all the time, tho i do understand wanting your first time with him to be perfect. Please, talk to him and then don't let it stop you. If we could just let go of the idea that it's somehow dirty or unsanitary, we would be so much better off.

So, i do encourage you not to cancel but to allow it to be the beginning of a truly intimate relationship, one where these kinds of little bumps in the road are dealt with and overcome. And a little secret...shhhh, some of the most satisfying sex i've ever experienced occurred while on my period. There are so VERY many ways to be intimate, so many different kinds of sexual activity...

gentle thoughts.

I think this is the reason why some women call periods a 'curse'...it interferes with your lifestyle. Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do to stop your period from coming on.

If you had been on the pill consistently before this time, you might have had a chance, but to take the pill just to try to stop your period could really mess your system up.

LOL no there is nothing you can do at this point in time to stop or delay your period.

Don't let your period run your life. You can still be intimate without worrying about your period.

DO NOT take your friends pills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT be that stupid. Please. Not only is it ILLEGAL for her to give YOU her prescription drugs, you have not been properly consulted with on birth control pills.

Just delay your "first time" until you are not on your period.

The 'pill' can stop periods... I am uncertain to whether it is a bit late now however. I think you may be stuck.

Sorry

i would have said carry on taking the pill right through but ur not on it, if you started taking it now it could bring you on a period, which could last for wks, if you take your friends pill wont she be short then, and you should only take what a dr prescribes for you

well in case you were actually taking the pill you could, but taking the pill just for that can mess your cycle; so I wouldn´t recommend it.

Good luck! ;D

No, you can't stop the period. There is no way to stop it on Saturday. Sorry about it.
