I think that's a myth! I'm 78 and I've never been an early riser!! I need 8 hrs sleep! Maybe others go to sleep earlier and earlier in the evening?? But I'll be that's not the case. Where did you get your info?

The older you get, the more there is a tendency to have bladder problems and you often get awakened for those reasons and it is harder to go back to sleep in the early morning hours. Men have enlarging prostates often that do this. Both women and men can have Overactive Bladder syndrome.
Women have hormone problems after menopause that causes them sometimes to have insomnia. Also older people tend to be lighter sleepers and wake up easier, also those who have aches and pains sometimes avoid a lot of physical activity that makes them tired enough in the daytime to sleep soundly. There is a tendency not to need as much sleep when you are older also.
