You can hold whatever type of commitment ceremony you want to have, you just won't be legally married. You might want to be up front with the pastor about your situation, as some might not be willing to officiate the ceremony under the circumstances you've presented here. Other than that, there shouldn't be a problem. Just follow up by going to the courthouse to make it legal once you have a divorce decree. ETA - In response to your follow up post... that really depends on whether or not you can find a pastor who is willing to conduct a traditional wedding ceremony under your current circumstances. Most of them will probably not be willing to conduct a traditional wedding ceremony if you aren't legally divorced and haven't obtained a marriage license. If you find a pastor who is willing to and you are a religious person, I guess that would be considered to be your wedding in the eyes of God. In the eyes of the state of California, however, this wouldn't be considered your wedding. You will still need to obtain a marriage license and have an "official" ceremony of sorts. You can keep it as simple as having the justice of the peace perform the official state sanctioned ceremony at the courthouse with the secretary or some other courthouse worker as a witness.

Take the higher road.
There is no point in stooping to his level to get even.
Call your lawyer, but refrain from stooping to his level.
And do you really want to get back together with someone your stating is such a horrible man?
Take the higher road occupy your time with something else, and move on with your life for yourself. You deserve more than this and this situtation isn't worth it. Love yourself enough to be the stronger person. Getting even only gets to his level.

If you have absolute proof that he married before your divorce was final you can haul him intocourt. He may have committed bigamy, purgery and a whole serious series other crimes.
And I'm willing to bet his new wife isn't going to be too pleased about it either.
Get a lawyer and see what s/he thinks.
It could be that the monetary award you receive will not make the effort worthwhile, but I sense this isn't about the money.

There isnt anything you can do. Just over look it and have nothing to do with him. I guess that why you got divorced cuz he was having another affair? So sorry. He obviously doesn't care about your feelings so don't let him get to you! Move on. Trust me you'll find something else and be happy again. :) Most men are scum anyways lol

If youre sure he got remarried before your divorce is final he's got to know that his new marriage isnt legal.
Last time I checked you can only legally be married to one person at a time!

He's a horrible man because he found another woman after you split up? Your logic is flawed
Maybe he left you because you're insane? Over emotional? At least, that's what you're coming across as in your question.

First of all I am a true believer in karma, what goes around, comes around. What he did is illegal in most states, you deserve better then him if he was a liar and a cheater, so don't stoop to his level and try and get even!

I'd recommend getting a life of your own and leaving him to his. It's not your problem if he remarried illegally, so move on and lay off with all the vengeance crap.
