When you feel one coming on, the best way to ward it off is:

Immerse feet in hot water and put an ice pack on your head. Sit still like this until you feel the sensation passing.
It forces the extra bloodflow from your head into your feet which relieves the pressure on your blood vessels and takes away the migraine.

I learned this is hydrotherapy class in massage school and it worked EVERY TIME for my migraines.

Also I agree with the Feverfew "natural remedy" to keep them at bay.

I suffer from Migraines and get them with frequency. I now have a prescription medicine because I had to see a neurologist about mine. I think Excedrin Migraine is great, but do not drink or eat any caffiene with this because it already has some in it and too much can sometimes worsen the headache. This is what my doctor told me.

Caffeine, unless you are a constant coffed drinker. Caffeine was the first migraine headache medication used in the 1950s. Of course, it was in a higher dosage than in most drinks or in coffee, but it is still effect in those not over stimulated already. If you are a constant user of caffeine already, then if you can legally get tylenol 3 (sold in Canada over the counter) and legal to have in your possession in the States, if you have obtained them over the counter in Canada are the next best alternative.

Excedrin for Migraines. If they are serious or frequent, you may want to get a prescription for immetrex--I know it is expensive but it's the best thing out there.

I haven't found any good non-prescription migraine meds, but ginger tea works really well.

Excedrin. The combination of accedametaphine, asprin, and caffine with kill the migraine quickly and keep it off for a while. Don't take it at night, though, the caffine will keep you awake.
