Or is that something for the politicians and generals to decide?

(Yes, the poll is old, but you get the idea.)

It does not matter one bit, we are not in the position of making these decisions, lets leave the big boy issues to the big boys

I'm in an odd position on this one. I'm against the war, but I'm for the "surge" as our wonderful lying bastard president has put it. See, the damage has been done. More likely then not, if we pull out too soon, we will have created a monster that makes Saddam look like a vegan hippie. As far as the polls go, yes it's possible to take bad samples, which, I suppose, you could argue that a vast "liberal conspiracy" is making sure that every single poll quoted is a bad one, but statistically speaking, if this many polls say that we want out of Iraq, it's probably true.

What the Dems are doing wrong, in my opinion, is that they are seizing on these polls and using them to political advantage. We need to leave Iraq, but we need to devote as many resources as we can to stabilize the region enough that we CAN leave. Hey people, as much as I was against this war from the get go, we are responsible for this mess. We can't just ignore it. However, I think that some guidelines for withdrawal would be helpful. Too bad no one in congress is able to get along well enough to come up with a plan that the jerkoff in the Oval Office will work with.

Yeah, the poll is old and the percentage has jumped to 67%, I believe, which is more than 2/3rds.

However, Bush has made it abundantly clear that his fiasco will be passed onto the next President, along with all the blame for every problem encountered along the way.

The people had a say in 2004 and re-elected the dummy anyway. In 2006 they told their GOP congressional representatives to hit the road. In 2008, the people will tell even more GOP congressmen to go.

However, it will be too late by then to stop Dubya.

The US people should be making the decisions, not the well paid (eg: lobbied) Congress or President.

I can ask the same question, same meaning, in a different way and get 63 percent to say we should stay. Polls are useless, they are worded so that the person asking them gets the answer they want. A waste of time to use a poll as a source. Thanks for the question and have a great day!

Technically, it doesn't matter. But then again, going against the will of the majority of Americans does not bode well for your political future. To the people discrediting the poll....every poll has found similar results...there is no doubt this war is unpopular, to say the least.

You mean 63% of Americans poled, not 63% of Americans. There is a huge difference.

America is not governed by mob rule. We elect officials in the executive and legislative branches to make and enforce laws, and the President appoints the generals (confirmed by Congress) to lead the war effort.

That keeps those who are the experts in charge, and not the uninformed general public.

100% of Americans want our soldiers out of Iraq right now. Some of us are just smart enough to know that they need to stay until the job is done.

How convient. Bush makes a mess. Collects his reward and goes home to live happily ever after.
