No Glen.
The history surrounding the American flag is much longer than George Walker Bush or Bill Clinton or Richard Nixon or any one President in particular.
Our country has survived dangerous Presidents and administrations before and this too shall pass. Hopefully before there are too many more U.S. soldier's deaths and or innocent Iraq citizen's deaths.
I love my country and salute her flag and will do all I can to ensure that honest and decent genuine Patriotic people speak on our behalf!

No citizen of the United States of America should feel ashamed in saluting our flag.
Our flag is the symbol of our great land. Our fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, and more fought and died on foreign soil to keep that flag flying.
Some of us died for that very reason.
All who fought and who fought and died did so to preserve _your_ freedom to say things like that.
No problem.
Even thought I may not agree with what you say, I fully support your right to say it.
So does our constitution....at least while it stands unaltered.
The "progressives" would have it changed, but that's another story.
So no, a Democrat, a Republican, a Libertarian, a Tory, a Whig, even a neo-Nazi so long as he is a U.S. citizen should not be ashamed to salute our flag.
It is the symbol of our freedom and our right to do so.

You began your question with an oxymoron: clever Democrats. To the "gimme demmies" something that would not placed "unfastened stuff" of their wallet has no magnitude. Saluting (and, sure, a provide up the middle for civilians IS a perfect salute) the flag takes merely a 2d for mirrored image on merely who and what this large usa stands for and the valiant men and ladies who've given their lives and made very own sacrifices to maintain us unfastened. The phrases "provide" and "sacrifice" are no longer on the right ten of a Democrats checklist (except it quite is for others to furnish and sacrifice); they choose take and wealth redistribution. Edit: Evan P, curiously you meant your remark to be a smear; even even with the shown fact that, i'm PROUD to stay in candy homestead Alabama - the place prayer and patriotism isn't something to experience embarrassment approximately.

I would hope that anyone who salutes the flag understands that the flag is representative of a Nation and not a President. All should feel proud that they can freely speak their mind without fear of reprisal or imprisonment. We are many people with many backgrounds and beliefs. Together we are one Nation. These freedoms are what make us unique and strong.

Only ashamed that the same flag represents the same ideas and values that Repubs are suppose to follow. The Repubs have obviously forgotten what the flag truly represents. The Repubs think the flag stands for corporate greed, nation building, and party corruption. All the things the GOP holds dear.

Dems are not ashamed to salute the flag:
there is the Soviet flag, NAZI flag, Iran flag,
Cuban flag. Every flag run by a terrorist or dictator.
Where is the Al Queda flag? Ask Pelosi or Reid for that answer.

I've never understood the Republican ideal of worshipping a flag and then pissing on the rights that that flag represents. I wonder how many Republicans are smart enough to know the utter hypocracy in their faux patriotism?

I assume you mean because when saluting the flag we are embarrassed by the dismal foreign policy of the current Bush administration, well, yes, it is tough to take.

Not at all. It's the Republicans who have forgotten that the United States is still supposed to be a country run FOR and BY the people, not just them the rich and entitled!
