if there is a good deal out there then i would trade him. Unpatriotic?? Do you even know the meaning to that word?
As a NBA owner, you want what's best for your team, not just 1 very good superstar. If you can't tell from watching NBA games, teams like Dallas, San Antonio, the Suns, etc. are successful because they have more than 1 superstars on the team.
I would gladly trade Kobe if the right deal came along. That's what great GMs do.

I've been a Laker fan all my life and back-up any player that wears the Laker uniform, until now. Kobe Bryant is a cancer for team chemistry. The guy is the best player in the NBA but a horrible leader. If I was Jerry Buss I would trade kobe because the lakers will not be able to win another championship until Kobe leaves the Lakers. The main reason why the Lakers are unable to get to notch free agents to come to the Lakers is because no one wants to play with Kobe. Who wants to play with a stubborn player that does not wanna get along with his own team mates and at the same same time bad mouth his own organization.

I suppose I would if someone offered me the five other best players in the NBA.
I am curious how you can dislike someone you never met. I read that so often here. Kobe has not been convicted of anything. He is not a rapist, the incident never even mentioned any such thing. There is no evidence of him being a swinger or a "baller".His incident in Colorado was nothing other than entrapment. The young woman was/and is a headcase. She had a record of strange behavior before. She clearly was stalking him and like a fool fell for it. He is guilty of being foolish, which is not a crime nor worthy of being disliked. He has spoken up re getting some help on the court, but which of you would not have done the same? He is confident and a bit arrogant. But every high achiever I have ever met there was a case of arrogance, it comes with reaching success.
Sarcasm - spelling it right.

First of all, I will use this ESPN Trade Machine is only a tool that I'm using to illustrate this and not to spread a gospel.
Kobe is taking too much money that only allows one superstar, and, with just one superstar, my team couldn't do much! So for this single reason, I'll trade Kobe. And other reason is that Kobe wants to go, let him go. Kobe hates his teammates, and from what we heard from Smush Parker, everyone hates him back! Why have that guy on the team? So of course I'll trade him.
I'll trade him to Phoenix for Shawn Marion and Raja Bell and cash considerations.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=110~49~510&teams=21~13~13&te=&cash=13:21
Or I'll trade him to Toronto for T.J. Ford, Jorge Garbajosa, Carlos Delfino, Andrea Bargnani, Joey Graham, Jose Calderon, and cash considerations.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=110~2987~2806~1999~1979~3049~2759&teams=28~13~13~13~13~13~13&te=&cash=13:28
Why have a superstar who hates his teammates when you can have a more complete team who could be like family to one another?
I also have a Hall of Fame coach in Phil Jackson. I'll trust Phil in making magic happen. Jordan couldn't win without Phil Jackson, Shaq couldn't win without Phil Jackson. So Phil Jackson is a great coach. Jackson can lead this team to the playoffs and win a series! I don't need Kobe hogging the ball or, when losing, blame his teammates! Kobe only pass as the last option. When has Kobe passed with the shot clock not under 10 seconds?
And Kobe is not better than everyone else! If I want a championship, I want Tim Duncan! If I want money and a championship, I want Steve Nash. If I want future glory, I'll take D-Wade or Lebron! Why is Kobe better when his records suck?!? Not that Kobe suck, Kobe could be a very useful player if you play him like Pop plays Manu Ginobili. Kobe can only be a role player, not a leader of a team.

NO WAY I don't care if he was raping someone in the center of the court while demanding a trade I would get rid of him. he is too valuable he is the top player of our generation and you can allways build a team around him. The Lakers choose not to. He sells tickets and there are about 3 maybe 4 people in the league who sells seats like Kobe. I'm not a big Kobe fan but give him what he wants it will payoff for everyone in the end

well if you have a wall in front of you and you keep using the same set of hammers to break through and nothing happens that means theres gotta be a change. If you can trade your best hammer for one that makes the other hammers stronger you might break through the freakin wall. This means the lakers are stuck in the first round for years to come if they dont get better players around kobe ...or ....trade him.

lol @ unpatriotic. What does that have to do with the NBA? To answer your question though, if a player is unhappy with the team's situation, then it might be in the best interests of both parties for the player to be traded. For the player, to be in a situation better suited for him, and for the team to get something of value in exchange.

Simple; I would trade him because he doesn't do anything to help his team mates play better. Sure, one can be "The Best" on the team, but if they aren't team-focused, and are very self-centered, then they wouldn't stand a chance of winning a championship, which is the team's ultimate goal. Kobe will probably be traded eventually, even if it's not this year. Should be fun...

No you never trade a player of Kobe's caliber. If he wants out that bad he can do what Jordan did and retire and then come back when his contract is up.
I personally believe they will put a team around him before his contract is up that way they may be able to entice him to return.

If I were on the Lakers management committee, I wouldn't trade him but get it into our heads that he REALLY needs help. And the Jason Kidd opportunity didn't help the cause one bit.
