The whole cobwebs and spooky music and candles is always a good way to go as far as decorating. For a good party game, a scavenger hunt is fun. It could be long and creative, abstract, however you want to do it. Also have a costume contest where the guests can vote. If ordinances allow, you could have a small fire or firepit and roast marshmallows. Tell scary stories or read scary stories aloud.

Since most teens are "dating" or ":seeing someone" these days, I think it would be a great idea to do a costume party and play off of pairs and couples. That way everyone dresses as a pair of something. Theme your games around "two by two". You can rhyme a lot with that! I'd still stick to some of the traditional games like bobbing for apples, etc. But maybe add some mystery to it all...like a scavenger hunt, or a murder-mystery type thing as well. You could even go with a celebrity theme and have everyone dress as Hollywood couples? Trust me, I'm not a Britney Spears fan, nor do I think we should look up to celebrities, but these are teenagers and they may have fun with this. You could also plan games around thaat theme as well. Have fun!

Why not do an insane asylum theme? You know, like in Poe's "The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether."

Where the insane have overrun the asylum, and madness rules. You can have straight jackets made from white longsleeve shirts pretty easily, and your children can ask their friends to come as a variety of different madnesses.

As for games with easier cleanup, try a chain horror story. Each guest writes a part and passes it on to someone else who adds something. They can end up pretty grissly.

Or a gruesome scavenger hunt, with funny prizes.

I also reccomend renting or buying a few horror classics for them, since if they're watching movies, they aren't likely to make messes.

Another great location would be the Myrtles Plantation in Louisianna. It's supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the US. Its a beautiful plantation that's now a B&B. It has a main house as well as several other buildings (all rooms to stay in). The grounds look beautiful (I've only seen the place on TV, but on several different shows) and would make a great place for the ceremony.

how about creepy halloween costumes like evil jesters or werewolves. The werewolf masks (especially full head ones) are always scary. You could do a prison them with dodgey/creepy imates! I'd stay well clear of ghosts and mummys though.

Isn't Halloween the theme? At their ages, they probably aren't going to want to play games. Just let them wear whatever costume they want, put out plenty of food, let them pick the music...and sit back and supervise. Not trying to be rude, just realistic.

You could do a really broad theme like "A Night at the Movies". They could get really creative and be anything from vampires to Marie Antoinette.

Since they are all in high school, how about "Prom Night Massacre"? Show the movie "Carrie" and come up with more adult-theme games to play.
