I'm most afraid of losing my mother. I'm not sure that I can deal with that loss. I went to pieces when my father died very young. Mom has been my strength.
My biggest fear is death.
Runner-up is what's happening in society. The world has become so violent that you start realizing how vulnerable you are. It's as if so much of the population has shut down feelings and think consideration is a weakness; they hate without thinking about it, and they destroy without hesitation. We're seeing "thrill kills", smash and run, endless destructive acts, and these things are lauded in films, on TV, in videogames, even in TV commercials. I worry about the need to hate, take and destroy.
On a basic level, I'm terrified of spiders~for good reason. I've been bitten numerous times and have a nasty-looking scar on my left forearm from a wolf spider's bite. SHIVERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
I'm also afraid of heights, especially of falling backwards from a great height. I'm not sure why that certain fall frightens me except that I nearly fell from a second-story window when I was young. That's not true, I suppose, because I was afraid of heights before that happened.
Yes. Sharks are scary. The "Jaws" films and now "Open Water" can be thanked for making so many people nowhere near the ocean fearful of sharks. Better add "Deep Blue Sea" to the shark movies.

i'm afraid of dying and not being found for several months which would result in my dog dying without food and water. i don't know why this has been bothering me so much lately, but it's almost a phobia. (i'm not afraid of my death, just that my dog would suffer)
