just watched it again the other night....i like anything with travolta in it and basic was a good flick but it seemed like an awful elaborate hoax just to test her (osbourne)...i mean i know that none of the stuff that we saw in the jungle really happened but damn what a story they spun....

I thought it was a great movie and loved all the twists.
Obviously West (Samuel Jackson) didn't die in the jungle but there was a power struggle and an attempt on his life. The whole point of the investigation was to bring out the truth about who was pushing the drugs and to prove that Styles (Tim Daly) was somehow involved.
It wasn't meant to be a test for Osborne (Connie Nielsen), but she handled herself so well that they decided to invite her into the group. Since she had broken so many rules it was unlikely that she would be able to advance in the military, if she was even allowed to keep her job.
All in all, it may not have been very realistic, but it was entertaining. I think Travolta has really proven himself in the suspense/thriller genre.

I hated it. I thought it blew chunks. I still can't stand to see it. Samuel L. Jackson did his best, but nothing was done neither well nor correctly in that movie.
The storyline was pure BS and the ending was pure trash, where all the people who were supposedly dead were all in this club just down the street. Yeah, right.
I think I hate it more than Oceans 12. The military adviser must have been on drugs. All this to test Connie Nielsen, but a test for what? It was a total waste of time.

Yes! Sam Jackson, and the actress were great too! as well as Travolta he was a good investigator.

being on active duty at the time (Army) ~~~ this movie had TOO many military related errors in it to enjoy!
I spent 3 years in Panama~~~
