The incident did not directly involve me. It happened over 5 months ago and to be honest i don't remember exactly what happened. she would not take that for an answer. i thought if she was going to document our conversation she needed to have my consent before anything was said and not throw it in at the end of the conversation. Isn't there any laws that prohibit that? i never gave her my consent.

No, she does not have to inform you that she is going to document your conversation. Beside, what did you expect? Her to just rely on memory? You should always assume HR is going to document anything you say to them.

How did she document it? Did she record it? If so, I do believe most states say you need to inform the person ahead of time that they're being recorded. Need to check your individual state statutes on that.
