Hey there! I was in the band for 7 years. To blow a trumpet, put your lips loosely together and make a buzzing sound. It takes practice. But you can get it!

I was told once that you must arrange your mouth as though you're blowing a hair off your tongue to get air through the trumpet, but since I was never able to do it, I don't know if it's true.

You have to tighten your lips to as thin a line as you can, tucking them in against your teeth. Then blow as hard as you can into the mouthpiece.
