The biggest arguments for extra dimensions are:

1. There existence cannot be disproved, because we and the fundamental forces are restricted to 3 dim we live in..

2. Extra dimensional theories such as string theory argue that extra dimensions are required for two basic reasons:
a) To account for the relative weakness of gravity.
b) To provide additional degrees of freedom for vibrating strings.

On the flip side: Against extra dim

There existence can never be proved! So is it really science?

Imagine a word of two dimensions, we are all squares, or circles, maybe some of us are even straight lines. Now imagine a sphere passes into our word. What would it look like? We would see it as a dot that became a circle. The circle would grow until it was at a maximum and then it would shrink and collapse into a dot. We would interperit as growth and shrinking with time, perhaps it wouldn't even seem odd. By extention everything in three dimensions can be thought of as four dimensional objects passing through a three dimensional plane over time.

If this doesn't make sense read "Flatland".

There's not much by way of 'argument' since a dimension is just a linearly-independent variable. Have a look at 'Hyperspace' (Kaku, Oxford University Press, ISBN 0-19-508514-0) for a fairly good introduction.

Hi,

That's like saying any argument on or against water. You need to have a specific question in order to get a specific answer. I think we need more detail...

Freshman college composition? I would pick an easier topic and concentrate on your grammar and spelling.
