They do. Mammals have regular cycles. It just depends on the critter. Cows have a monthly heat, Dogs usually twice a year. Cats monthly also. If the animal isn't bred they will have a "period" till thay are. Some have a bloody discharge, others dont.. We as humans arent special.

I'm no expert - but I believe that other animals *do* get periods - it's usually not on the same monthly "cycle" that human women have.

Animals go into heat / season and are only fertile during THAT time of the year - so for those critters, they may only experience a single "period"... unless they've been impregnated during that time.

Since humans can conceive at ANY point during the year - human women get a monthly menstrual cycle to accommodate that.

They do. Most mammals have breeding seasons, timed so after gestation there are ideal conditions for raising offspring.
Therefore they only cycle at certain times of the year.

Humans are capable of conceiving at any time of the year because we have the resourcefulness to care for a baby at almost any given time. That's why female humans cycle monthly.

EDIT:

If they are fixed, the uterus and ovaries are removed. They can't because they don't have reproductive organs anymore.

Periods, or menstrual cycles, occur exclusively in humans and other great apes. Other mammals go into estrus, which is sometimes called going into heat. During a menstrual cycle, the uterine lining is shed from the body and you get menstrual bleeding. For animals that go into estrus, the uterine lining is reabsorbed back into the body, so there is not the same type of bleeding.

They do have them. If your animal is fixed though they want because their reproductive organs have been removed. You wont really notice blood because they'll like it off.

No, in a spaying situation, the uterus and ovaries are removed.

Ovaries are a portion of what tells your body to cycle, uterus is the one that has a period.
