put them into the fractions, it makes it eaiser to understand,
1. 60% would be 60/100 which reduces to 6/10 by divded by 10, and that can be reduced to 3/5 by divding those numbers by 2, answer b
2. 30% would be 30/100 which reduces by 10 to 3/10, which is the same as answer c, 3:10
3. 6.5% would be 6.5/100, and you can't have a decimal in the fraction, so move the decimal point over one for the top and bottom and you get 65/1000, but you either mispelled an answer, because that would equal 0.065
4. you have to change 7/8 to x/100, so first cross mulitply 100x7, then divde by the 8, and you will get 87.5, which is answer b, 87.5% (did you forget the decimal point in that answer?)

Not all of the multiple choice answers are correct . . .
To figure out the whole number of a %, divide by 100.
#1) 60% = 60/100; reduce to 6/10 (Find the greatest common denomintator which is 2) Ans. 3/5
#2) 30% = 30/100; =3/10
#3) 6.5% = 6.5/100; Multiply by 10/10 (to get rid of the decimal) 65/1000 = 0.065
#4) Divide 7/8 = .875; Multiply by 100 (to find the %) = 87.5%

for the first, remember that % just means out of 100, so 60% is the same as 60/100 now just reduce:
60/100 = 6/10 = 3/5
for the second, do the same thing.
30% = 30/100 = 3/10
for the third, remember that you can also convert % by simply moving the decinal point two places to the left, so:
6.5% = .065
and for 7/8 simply long divide 7 by 8 , then move the decimal two places to the left, so:
7/8 = 7 divided by 8 = .875 = 87.5%

Think of the fractions in this way.
The number below /, 5/3, 3 as 1/3 of a dollar. 1/3 of a dollar =33 cents. 5/3 =.33X5.
Look at the rest in the same way.
For decimals, a number before the decimal, other than zero, is that much percent.
The number after the decimal is a fraction of 1%.
0.1=1/10th.
0.01=1/100th
0.011=11/1,000ths
0.001=1/1,000th
0.0001=1/10,000th
For the 7/8
Again consider the 8 as 1/8. 1/8 of a dollar=???
How much is 1/4 dollar? 25 cents. 1/8 is half that, then X 7.
Got it?
Compare that with the list of %'s.
You can do this. Just think of one dollar=100cents.

well the first one is B....the reason why is first you take 60% of 100 or 60/100 then reduce...take away the 0's 6/10 then divide the numerator and the denominator by 2 so 3/5
The third is A because if you divide 6.5 by 10 then u just move the decimal to the left two spaces.

Percent to decimal = multiply the percent by .01
Decimal to fraction = put the fraction over a base 10
So for example: 60% * .01 = .60 .60 = 60/100 = 6/10 so C
You can work the rest using that simple procedure.
