Are you kidding? I love my country and I would gladly fight to defend my country and so would my son.
There is no draft to send people to Iraq, but if there were, I would not allow them to take away my son and send him over to Iraq to die for Bush and his delusions. Dying in Iraq is not dying to defend the USA,it is dying to support U.S. aggression and imperialism and to perpetuate a wrong move with further wrong moves......50 wrongs dont make a right.

I don't have any kids, but if I had a son and the draft were reinstated so that he and others could be sent to Iraq, I would fight tooth and nail to prevent that from happening. And not only would I not feel the least bit ashamed of that, but I would actually feel ashamed to see the draft reinstated for the sake of a war that clearly should never have been started at all. Trying to prevent terrorism is one thing- I think almost all of us can support that. But in my view the war in Iraq should never be confused with the latter, since that country wasn't in any way, shape, or form linked to 9/11, and was a sovereign nation that posed no threat to us. Not worth dying for by any stretch of the imagination, platitudes about "freedom not being free" notwithstanding. Dubya and cohorts have no credibility left to lose.

Vietnam vet here...and if my 18 year old son was drafted to fight in Iraq I would buy him a plane ticket to Canada or anyplace else he could go to avoid that draft. This war is wrong and has no relevance to protecting the United States despite all the hype to the contrary.

I would not have to allow it as it would be law and he would have to surrender to it. I would be proud of him and he would proudly do his part. The Iraq war is not going to end, ever. Because it is a part of the global war or Jihad that extremists are bringing here. Even if we left tomorrow, kissed Osama's butt and gave every Muslim $100MM they would still come after us. Those of you who think this is about Iraq and G.W. are very mistaken. There is a misson of the extremists to convert the world to Radical Islam and any who don't will die. This isn't about political or geographical boundaries and events; it's about religious fanaticism that knows no bounds. They will kill women, children, animals, themselves, all nationalities everywhere are their enemy. Read up on what's going on from different sources than your mainstream media, you will see that what I am saying is true. I am not defending our leaders or condeming them, I am not defending the war in Iraq or condeming it. I don't care if you are a Democrat or a Republican or any political party. Your life, your families and mine are all in danger until we eliminate these evil beings from the face of this planet. I hope we all wake up to this fact before it's too late.

I would NOT allow it.

There has been and probably will be times when it is necessary for the U.S. to go to war to protect this nation. Iraq was and is NOT one of those times. I would not allow my son to die in Iraq for no reason whatsoever.

If I had an 18 year old son, it wouldn't be my decision whether he went or not. He is an adult, and would have to make that decision on his own. However, I would be disappointed if he didn't serve.

so far only democrats have called for a draft.

i personally dont' want anyone in the military that does not want to be there. we don't need cowards and lefties in the military. we have enough infiltrators of various religions that have already caused enough problems and murdered our soldiers.
