i keep getting this annoing thing on my canon mp600. help?

I bought an canon pixma mp600 and i get this message Error 5010 and i cacnot do a thing....help me pls!

Uninstall and reinstall software
Still no luck ? Contact seller / Canon for help / replacement.

According to the canon website it looks like a replacement is the order of the day, no specific info on a 5010 error, but ANY error from 5000-9999 seems to indicate if turning off and on does not clear, it needs their attention, so if it's new, get it swapped out.
